Some of day four on camp

Hello everyone,

Not too long ago we went on a camp as year 6’s and 5’s. We did a lot so  I won’t  tell you everything, but let’s go back. So day four was one of the best days  because that day we woke up early so we can hop onto a boat and drove for about half an hour. Once we got there we went and did a walk it was very steep by the time we got to the first point we were all exhausted they made us sit down then about 2 minutes later they made us start again even though we didn’t want to get back up  then we did so more walking.  Then about 20 minutes later we got to the other side of the mountain then we sat down for about 5 minutes then we got into our groups then walk around the mountain it only took us about 10 minutes. Once we got there we sat down then ate a little then we got into our togs in the bath rooms then my group in the water after  a little it was my group’s turn to go the kayaks. I got my life jacket on then me and Toni were about to get into a kayak together then one of the teachers asked who knew how to ride a kayak I put my hand up because i have kayaked lots with my mum. So they got me to go in a one person kayak then I started to paddle. Then Miss Kneller told me that there was a stingray so I had a look. Then… I saw it was under the bridge. After a little we had to get out and let the last group there turn. Then we got change and sat down and finished our lunch. About half an hour later we got on the boat and headed back to the bus. once we were off the boat and on the bus we headed back to the cabins.

Our camp was at the Bay of Islands.

Bye

The Warriors

Hello,

Not too long ago we went to mount smart stadium to meet some of the warriors. We had to be at school by 8.45 so we don’t miss the trip the people that went were all the year 6’s and a few years 5’s. We got to go to mount smart stadium by their team bus. Once we got there we had to wait. Later we got to watch the training of the and we sat there for like 40 minutes after that we got lines and then the warriors came and gave us there signatures and some people got signed boots then we went back to school. Here are the photos.  Bye!

Novels – Taupo Blows

Kia Ora,

This term for reading we have been reading novels in groups. In my group we were reading Taupo Blows. It’s about two kids home alone then mount Ruapehu erupts while their parents are getting coffee. I won’t really chose this book but I found it very interesting. My favorite character was choky because  they went in the volcano and he didn’t really understand what was happening. Also with our book we had to fill in information about the book some of the activities were compare and contrast, The Setting, Comprehension Questions and Character Description. link

Bye! Kieran

In the Trenches

Kia ora,

In week 1 term 2 we had under the weirs first when the bell all the year 6s and 5 and some of the year 4s went to line up to we all didn’t know what was happening but some of us had a of a clue of what were doing.  So first of all we did a bit of marching then we all marched into Manukau and on there TV there were some thing we needed so once we remembered it we went under the first couple of minutes were not to bad but after about 15 to 20 minutes we started to get sore knees. For the first block we had gone into group in the group we at lest needed one person from each  class, After we were in our groups we had to go to one of the papers then after every group had done that we started reading it. Then with our group we had to dessied someone in our group to say the paper but in his own words. So we skip ford to after morning tea we had to head back in under to get started on writing  a poem. After writing we watch a video on the war on christmas day, after we went to lunch play and eat we went back under then we had a little talk we got into groups then we started to pack up the then once we had fished Mrs Najak gave us some chocolate fish Then we finished the day and went home.

White Parihaka

Hello bloggers,

At school we have been learning about Parihaka. In the 1860’s the land was taken by the government so the Maori people started non-violently protesting. On the fifth of  November you wear white clothing or a white feather to resemble peace. At school we made headbands with 1 or 3 feathers and wore white.

Tsunamis and earthquakes

Hello blogs,

In Term weeks 1, 2 and 3  we learnt about tsunamis and earthquakes. Earthquakes can be measured by a Richter scale. An earthquake can also cause a tsunami. Earthquakes can be very dangerous, we have been using this web site called USGS it showed where the earthquakes have been you can also find where you live. Tsunamis are lots of huge waves that can casualties to people and buildings. Tsunami and earthquakes can cause millions of dollars to fix.

Tsunami infographic

Earthquakes are scary but if you experienced one it would be a cool experience. Fun fact if you try to ride a tsunami there is no getting out after you’re in it. Here are some facts about tsunami

  1. A tsunami can reach up to 98 ft of 30 meters high.
  2. The energy in the tsunamis water can eliminate all of the things in its way.
  3. A tsunami is a series wave that is not controlled by the sun or moon.

Blog you later.
